Make Health Slices!

You will need:
  • 250g (8 ounces) of butter
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of coconut
  • ½ cup of sunflower seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of wheatgerm or bran
  • ½ cup of sesame seeds
  • A saucepan
  • A large mixing bowl
  • 2 sponge roll tins (or slice tins) about 18cm x 26cm (7" x 10")
  • A little butter or some non-stick spray to grease the tins
  • A wooden spoon
  • A knife or a spatula
Put the butter and the golden syrup into the saucepan and put to one side.

Put all the other ingredients into the mixing bowl and stir together.

Place the saucepan on a stove set to a low-medium heat and stir the syrup and butter until they are combined and melted.

Add the melted butter and golden syrup mixture to the bowl of dry ingredients and stir with wooden spoon until thoroughly combined.

using the butter or non-stick spray, lightly grease the 2 sponge roll tins.

Press the mixture into the 2 tins and level with a knife or spatula.

Place in oven on middle shelf and bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 165° C (325° F)

How To Make Hedgehogs


Put into a saucepan:
  • 220g (8 ounces) of chopped dates
  • 60g (2 ounces) of butter
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Heat until it's all soft, and then add 2 cups of cornflakes.

Mix it all well, roll into balls, and then roll them in some coconut.


Yum... All done!!!
